Oversharing

We've all done it. Told way more than we needed to. And ended up feeling stupid at the end. How does one stop oversharing?

CONSCIOUSLY. It takes a conscious effort, and even then, it's still possible. If it's something people ask about often, think of what you'd like to say, and keep it to two or three sentences. Sort of like an opening paragraph with a thesis. If they want to know more, they'll ask. Be ready!

Don't over-explain. It makes you sound guilty. Ha. This sounds funny, but notice sometime when someone is doing it to you. The more concise the answer, the more mature it sounds. And don't think you're too old to sound immature - you're dead wrong! Maturity and immaturity don't have an age range.

Something for everyone (myself included!) to think about in 2009.

Yours very truly,
Sarah
